Getting Started

How do I get started with VoiceKeeper?

Sign up for an account, then simply start recording. You can talk about anything—your childhood, your career, life lessons, family stories. Our app guides you with prompts to help spark memories. There's no special equipment needed—just your phone or computer.

How much do I need to record?

For basic voice cloning, we need about 5-10 minutes of speech. But the more you record, the better the AI becomes at capturing your personality, stories, and way of speaking. We recommend recording regularly—even just 10-15 minutes a week.

Do I need any special equipment?

No. Any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a microphone works. Our app is designed to work with standard device microphones. That said, recording in a quiet environment will produce better results.

How It Works

Is this actually their voice, or text-to-speech?

It's actually their voice. We use AI voice cloning technology to create a digital version of their voice. After you record 5-10 minutes of stories, we can generate speech that sounds exactly like them—same accent, same cadence, same warmth.

How accurate is the AI?

The AI responds using their actual recorded memories. If they told a story about their childhood, the AI can reference that story. It won't make things up—it only knows what was recorded. Think of it as an incredibly smart way to search through and interact with their stories.

Can the AI respond to any question?

The AI can attempt to respond to any question, but its knowledge is limited to what was recorded. If you never recorded stories about your military service, for example, the AI can't make up stories about it. It will acknowledge what it doesn't know.

What if they never used VoiceKeeper while alive?

You can still create their AI if you have recordings of them—old voice memos, videos, home movies, or any audio where they're speaking clearly. As long as you have their voice and stories, we can help preserve them. Many families do this as a tribute.

Privacy & Security

Who can access my recordings?

Only people you explicitly invite to your family account. You control exactly who has access. We cannot access your recordings without your permission, and we will never share them with third parties.

Is my data used to train AI models?

Absolutely not. Your recordings are used only to create your personal voice clone and memory AI. We never use customer data to train public AI models. Your stories belong to your family, period.

What encryption do you use?

We use AES-256 encryption for all data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit—the same security standards used by banks and government agencies. Your recordings are encrypted before they leave your device.

Can I delete my data?

Yes, at any time. You can delete individual recordings or your entire account. When you delete something, it's gone—we don't keep hidden backups. This is your data, and you have full control.

What happens to my data if VoiceKeeper shuts down?

You can export everything at any time—all recordings, transcripts, and conversations. We're building this to last, but if anything ever happens, your memories are safe and portable. We'll also provide at least 6 months notice before any service changes.

Ethical Concerns

Isn't this kind of... creepy?

We thought about this a lot. It can feel strange at first. But this isn't about "bringing them back"—it's about preserving what they wanted to share. It's no different than watching old home videos, just more interactive. Families tell us it brings comfort, not discomfort.

What prevents someone from misusing this technology?

We require explicit consent from the person being recorded (or their estate for posthumous recordings). We have strict verification processes. We also have detection systems to flag potential misuse. This technology exists to honor memories, not to deceive.

Is it disrespectful to create an AI of someone who passed?

We believe it's the opposite—it's a way to honor their memory and keep their wisdom alive. Many families use VoiceKeeper as a loving tribute. That said, we always recommend discussing it with family members and respecting everyone's comfort level.

Pricing & Billing

Is there a recurring fee?

No. Our lifetime plan is a one-time payment. You pay once, and you have access forever. No monthly fees, no annual renewals, no surprise charges.

What does "lifetime" actually mean?

Lifetime means as long as VoiceKeeper exists as a company. We're building this to last generations. We have sustainable business model designed for the very long term, not a quick exit.

Is there a free trial?

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee instead of a free trial. Sign up, use the full product, and if it's not right for you within 30 days, we'll refund every penny—no questions asked.

Why is the founders price so much lower?

Early customers take a risk on us—we're a new company. In exchange for that trust, we offer a significant discount. As we grow and add features, the price will increase. Founders pricing is our way of saying thank you to the families who believed in us first.

Technical Questions

What languages are supported?

Currently, we support English with the highest quality. We're adding Spanish, Mandarin, and other major languages soon. If you record in a language we haven't optimized yet, the voice cloning will still work, but quality may vary.

Can I use VoiceKeeper offline?

Recording works offline—your recordings are stored locally and synced when you reconnect. However, voice cloning and AI conversations require an internet connection.

What file formats can I upload?

We accept most common audio and video formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, and more. If you have old recordings in unusual formats, contact us—we may be able to help convert them.

Can I export my recordings?

Yes, you can export all your recordings, transcripts, and conversations at any time. Your data belongs to you, and you should always be able to take it with you.
